Here it is. Finally. After five months of development along with countless sleepless nights and gallons of coffee, the brand new SoMinty is finally here. We’ve taken our previous version and amped it up plenty. You will notice a ton of new features, including three new categories (books, technology and editorials). We also have tonnes of new content, competitions and other fun stuff lined up. We even spiced up our media player!

One of the main areas we focused on is providing more ways for our readers to discover new content. When we built the very first version of SoMinty, the main goal was to let our readers discover new content and by providing them with articles about a variety of different subjects that might spark their curiosity. With our latest version, we’ve designed it so that someone on the site can bounce around articles while discovering new content along the way. When someone reads an article, for example, we will recommend other articles you might be interested in. We will also feature other articles by the same author, in case you like his/her writing style.

A nifty feature you will notice is that when you click on the little tabs above each section on the home page, a handy list of the most recent articles in that section will show up. We’ve also added the option of searching for articles by tags. This is a quick and simple way to help you find other articles with similar tags.

We know a lot of readers browse through music and movies in stores and probably have seen a cover of a music album or movie cover that they found interesting, but had no idea what it was about. This is why we’ve added a “recent covers” section on the home page to help you track down the music album or movie review by recognizing the cover.

We’ve also added features to let readers share content they see on SoMinty with their friends. Every individual article has a “Share” feature where you can post the article to different social websites, making them easier to share. We have also added an “Email this article” option right under each post, which will let you specify who to send the article to via email. Talking about emails, you can now also subscribe to posts via email by clicking on the “Get Notifications Via Email” link on the top right corner. You’ll be notified every time a new article is posted.

We’ve also added a store in case you wanted to purchase something you’ve seen on SoMinty. Most articles also have a “buy this item” button that will help you jump right to that product on amazon.com.

Overall, I am very excited about this new version. We’ve spent a lot of time listening to out readers and implementing a lot of cool stuff.
