Loco-Cocoa on a Platter
By Farheen Anwar | Feb 18, 2008 | Comment
food

This is the sort of recipe you use when you get a call from a friend who suddenly decides to meet you and gives you only a 20-minute ‘warning’ before arriving. Better still, when u want to pretend you’ve mastered every other recipe in the book and you want to look all cool with a complicated-looking yet oh-so-simple dessert to serve. Why it is a recipe for disaster, we shall discuss after we are done cooking.

Ingredients:

  1. 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  2. 3/4 sup sugar
  3. 1 cup powdered milk
  4. 1 cup cream
  5. 2 tablespoons oil
  6. 1 pack Mary biscuits

Method:

Break the biscuits into small pieces. pour the oil in a non-stick pan on low heat. Once the oil is warm, take the pan off the heat and add the cream. Stir until well-blended. Now add the cocoa powder, powdered milk and sugar and stir until a think paste is formed. Mix well. Add the biscuits and mix them well so that they are coated with chocolate. Pour on wax paper and fold the wax paper around it to form the shape of a log. Freeze this for about an hour (while you talk to your uninvited guest and pretend to be enthralled by their unexpected visit). Take out and cut thin circular discs of the log and serve. (Don’t forget to remove the wax paper from the discs before serving unless you really plan on never seeing this guest again) Et voila!

And now, the reason why I referred to this recipe as disastrous, is well, one is BOUND to eat a lot of this delicious dessert, so i warn you in advance, if you or your guest are diabetic, please do not try to pull off making such desserts and even others. Watch your weight and only make it when you have enough people to help share the calories! Otherwise we’ll know where the next beach ball will be!
